A police officer was fatally shot and another seriously injured during a traffic stop in San Diego late Thursday, officials said.

Authorities said early Friday that one person was in custody, but told residents to stay indoors while they searched the area for other potential suspects.

SWAT vehicles, helicopters and patrol cars were involved in the extensive operation.

The shooting happened at around 11 p.m. local time, San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman told reporters early Friday.

two San Diego police officers were shot, one of them lethally, amid a movement stop late Thursday night in the Southcrest neighborhood, police said.

The names and residencies of the male officers, both part of the division’s pack concealment unit, were not discharged.

One of the officers endured different shot injuries and kicked the bucket at a healing center in spite of lifesaving endeavors, police Chief Shelly Zimmerman said early Friday outside Scripps Mercy Hospital. The second officer experienced surgery early Friday and was required to survive.

Police had one think in guardianship. He had been shot and was being dealt with at a healing center, Zimmerman said.

The two officers had pulled over a vehicle around 11 p.m. some place in the range of Acacia Grove Way and 36th Street. Instantly after, they called for crisis spread, Zimmerman said.

Different officers were in the range and arrived not long after. They discovered both officers experiencing shot injuries to the upper middle. One was surged in a police vehicle to a doctor’s facility, where he kicked the bucket.

“Regardless of brave endeavors by officers on scene and gallant endeavors by specialists to spare his life, I’m devastated to report they were not able spare him and he is expired,” Zimmerman said.

She said she went to the home of the officer who kicked the bucket and advised his significant other, two kids and more distant family individuals who were at the home.

“It is to a great degree troublesome, yet something you need to do,” Zimmerman said. “Nothing sets you up.”

The spouse of the officer who experienced surgery was close to him at the healing center, the boss said.

Other relatives of the two officers had not yet been told.

There was no report on the state of the suspect, who was arrested around 11:30 p.m. in a gorge close South 38th and Alpha lanes. Officers had found a blood trail driving toward him.

Police, including officers from numerous different organizations, swarmed the region and, with firearms drawn, scanned for whatever other conceivable associates with the guide with police mutts, a helicopter and SWAT colleagues.
